The objective of this report is to assess terrain sensitivity as a basis for long term environmental planning, including forest harvesting in the Pavilion Creek watershed. The study area encompasses about 5,000 ha, and includes three smaller watersheds adjacent and to the northeast side of Pavilion Lake. Terrain mapping was carried out using the most recent 1:15,000 scale colour air photos.

The objective of this report is to assess terrain sensitivity (slope stability and potential erosion) as a basis for long term environmental planning, including forest harvesting in the Pavilion Creek watershed, upstream from the north tip of Pavilion Lake (NTS map-sheet 92111 3). The study area encompasses about 5,000 ha, and includes three smaller watersheds adjacent and to the northeast side of Pavilion Lake. Terrain mapping was carried out using the most recent 1:15,000 scale colour air photos. Delays in acquiring air photo coverage for the southernmost part of the study area resulted in post-field work mapping of this area with minimal ground checks. As a result, interpretations for slope stability and potential erosion were completed for the entire study area, with the least reliable mapping in the southernmost region.-----
The present report incorporates the results of field work carried out between July 11th to 21st, 1994. It is accompanied by a 1:5 000 scale overlay map showing the terrain characteristics, slope steepness, soil drainage, potential slope instability and potential erosion, as well as thin limestone soils. The overlay should be superimposed on a 1:5,000 scale topographic map for simultaneous viewing of terrain mapping, interpretations and contours.
