Every year, the ministry develops a hunting and trapping synopsis that outlines the current regulations that govern these activities. This publication, which is also available on the ministry's website, is a valuable tool that allows us to communicate the rules used to achieve wildlife conservation objectives and provide world-renowned recreational activities to resident and non-resident alike. Limited Entry Hunting, or LEH, is a system by which hunting opportunities are awarded to resident hunters based on a lottery, or random draw. The purpose of LEH is to achieve wildlife management objectives without resorting to such measures as shortening seasons or completely closing areas. LEH seasons are introduced where it has become necessary to limit the number of hunters, limit the number of animals that may be taken, or limit the harvest to a certain class of animal. Provincial BC Contact for these reports is Stephen MacIver (Jan 17, 2024). Water, Land and Resource Stewardship (Wildlife Branch).
