Abstract: The effects of mass wasting, primarily debris torrents, on salmonid juvenile rearing habitat in streams on the Queen Charlotte Islands were assessed in 1981-1982 with a synoptic survey of 44 streams, followed later by a more detailed survey of seven streams in 1983-1984. Streams in the synoptic survey included both logged and unlogged streams, whereas only logged streams were included in the detailed survey. While it was not the intent of the study to assess the effects of logging per se on stream habitats, where appropriate, changes attributed to logging alone are also described.
