The purpose of this literature review is to provide background information on the suitability of preharvest aspen control as a silvicultural treatment for the southern interior of British Columbia. This study assessed three main treatment methods for their effectiveness in controlling aspen and for the various risks and impacts associated with their use. The methods were: stem-injection of herbicide; application of ground active herbicide; and girdling.
