Abstract: The project continues on previous work completed by Lignum in the identification of growth patterns for uneven-aged stands, and in the development of a stand structure classification system. The project had two primary tasks. The first task entailed the assignment of a stand structure and species group classification to all vegetated tree polygons within the IFPA. To assign the stand structure to unsampled polygons, a predictive model was developed using a regression tree approach. The second task objectives were to develop generalized growth type projections for each VRI polygon. The second task required two types of growth projections: stand level projections using the Ministry of Forests VDYP and TIPSY stand level models and the VRI inventory attributes, and; tree level growth projections using the proprietary model FPS, and the RING model developed for Lignum, whose output was subsequently grouped into the stand structure classes.
