Weyerhaeuser identified a high elevation lodgepole pine seed needs gap for their southern interior operations. The current demand for these seedlings is 1.4 million seedlings/year, which represents a large seedling component for which there is no superior progeny seed source. Forsite was contracted by Weyerhaeuser to: 1. identify superior lodgepole pine seed sources to meet this demand; 2. coordinate all project activities involving cone collections, cone transport and storage, seed extraction, identification and lay-out of trial sites and reporting; and 3. coordinate project activities involving planting and mapping of trial sites.
