Abstract: British Columbia Timber Sales (BCTS), Canfor Radium Division and Tembec Industries Inc. have committed to meeting objectives designed to sustain biological richness (Criterion 1) as a component of their Sustainable Forest Management Plans (SFMP) for their respective operating areas in the Invermere Timber Supply Area (Tembec 2005; Canfor and BCTS 2006). SFMP objectives for Criterion 1 are based on three indicators developed by Bunnell et al (2003): Indicator 1 (ecosystem representation), Indicator 2 (habitat types and elements) and Indicator 3 (species based management and monitoring). This project is intended use a landscape level decision support framework to identify efficient strategies to meet area-based targets developed for this project for the first two indicators of Criterion 1 ? Indicator 1 (ecosystem representation) and Indicator 2 (habitat types and elements) in the TSA. It is a component of the first year of a two year Forest Science Program Project (Y061069), that focuses on integrating landscape level objectives among forest tenure holders in the Invermere TSA.
