Abstract: As society affirms a greater diversity of values toward the forest land base, there is a requirement for forest management to become more engaging and accommodating of a wider set of public interest. While traditional forest management primarily focused on a sustained forest resource for timber utilization, ther eis now the public desire to manage forest ecosystems toward a balance between social, ecological and economic values while at the same time allowing future generations to enjoy the same benefits. This concept is known as Sustainable Forest Management, and represents the foundation by which the Lillooet Timber Supply Area land base will be managed. Progressing toward SFM on the Lillooet TSA land base requires the strong commitment of the public, forest licensees, and managing agencies to embrace new methods and technology. In particular, methods are being employed to obtain meaningful public input and participation, and to examine how a diversity of values can be accommodated and managed on the Lillooet TSA land base. This SFM Plan represents the culmination of a substaintial effort and dedication of a diversity of interest to actively support the implement SFM on the Lillooet TSA land base.
