Abstract: The project objective is to permanently deactivate the 540Froads to mitigate the hazard of landslides and erosion. The 540F roads were considered a very high hazard for additional slopes failures. This road system is located within the Sproat Lake community watershed. The 540F road system was identified by Weyerhaeuser Company Limited, West Island Timberlands Unit as a high priority for road deactivation because of past instability associated with this road. The 540F roads are constructed across a easterly facing slope at approximately 700 m elevation above Antler Creek. The 540F3 road and the lower part of 540F crosses steeply sloping terrain where a number of old landslides have occurred. The road fills are slumping in a number of locations and is considered a very high hazard for additional slopes failures.
