Abstract: Rehabilitation works were conducted on a landslide that had occurred in 2001 at 1+701 on a previously deactivated segment of the Hemmingsen 3000 road. This work was done to reduce the potential for further landslides and to minimize sediment production into Hemmingsen Creek, approximately 1 km downstream. The Hemmingsen 3000 road system is located on east-aspect mid-slopes above a tributary to Hemmingsen Creek. This road is estimated to be +40 years old. The road was deactivated under the FRBC program in the year 2000. Access for the road was for 4x4. Following deactivation a landslide occurred at 1+701 in a small gully. The landslide left unstable headwalls and made vehicle passage unsafe or impossible. The objective of this rehabilitation work was to reduce the potential for further landslides and to minimize sediment production into Hemmingsen Creek. Description of Completed Work The landslide headwalls were pulled back and endhauled to stable locations on a short distance on either side of the landslide. Previously pulled back spoil was also excavated and endhauled to allow 4x4 access. Works were conducted on November 20 and 21, 2003. Disturbed sediments were grass seeded. The work project was supervised and inspected on a daily basis by myself.
