Abstract: Objectives of the overall project (including 2002 works) ? Maintain natural drainage patterns ? Minimize surface erosion and potential for mass wasting ? Stabilize the fill slope adjacent to the stream crossing. There was a moderate risk of sedimentation to the S6 stream, and low risk to the fish resource in the N. Thompson prior to the works. The work area is not within a community watershed. Works commenced on this road system in 2002 after Weyerhaeuser Vavenby identified the Spur 9 road system as requiring road deactivation to address environmental hazards of a failing wooden culvert and landslide. Initial work was completed in Sept.-Oct. 2002. On completion of the works, the area was reviewed by Westrek Geotechnical Services. Westrek recommended additional pullback of slopes at one work site (from Sta. 0+980 to 1+032).
