The overall objective of this research is to test if differences in habitat attributes between landbase types on the Arrow TSA matter biologically to organisms that depend on them. This research will test the assumption that the non-harvestable areas in an ecosystem type are representative of that ecosystem at the species-level. It will use non-migratory birds as indicators of deadwood and site productivity. This study will compare the community similarity and abundance of winter resident birds between landbase types in three ecosystems on the Arrow TSA. Analysis using likelihood methods will be used to explain variation between bird abundance, ecosystem types, and habitat attributes. Results will be summarized in a report to be submitted to a refereed journal for publication. This project represents the last critical step required to develop a comprehensive coarse-filter strategy for the Arrow TSA. Robert Serrouya, Jim Herbers, and Katherine Maxcy.
