Abstract: This collaborative initiative is intended to advance the benefits resulting from a $5 Million investment focused on using habitat supply for northern caribou as an example approach to sustainable forest management in the Mackenzie TSA. The proposal is focused on using empirical data collected on one part of the previous project to develop tests of model performance (the model being build on another phase of the previous project). Tests of specific parts of the habitat supply model will allow for a re-assessment of habitat management policy first developed at the Mackenzie LRMP. Methodology for the tests were developed using other funds, the results of which are being presented at two international forums in August and September 2002. Funds from this proposal are to advance the tests into a more comprehensive analysis and one that can be used to more fully evaluate policy and it's application in a real operational setting Randy Sulyma, Breck Alward.
