Planning initiatives for northern cariboo herds in north-central BC: work plan McNay, R. Scott
2004

Abstract: The original work plan identified six licensees that were to be solicited for funding because portions of these caribou herd areas are located in their license areas. Unfortunately none of these licensees have contributed funding. Because of this Slocan - Mackenzie is proposing to make up for a portion of this shortfall with additional funding. Work will continue as per the approved work plan to the extent possible given the reduction in overall funding, which will still allow for significant progress in the development of a recovery action plan. However, work will be confined to the development of herd management plans, a recovery action plan for the Wolverine herd and an initial meeting with memebers of the Recovery Action Group. The work involves: 1. Invitation of local stakeholders, First Nations, client groups, and government representatives for participation in the Recovery Action Group and subsequent confirmation of their membership. 2. Development of herd-based management plans by the Recovery Action Group 3. Development of local recovery plan for the Wolverine caribou herd
