The primary purpose of the project is to investigate potential economic impacts relating to shocks or changes to the forestry, agriculture, and tourism and other key sectors in this region. Models will be developed that have the ability to examine regional economic impacts of changes in resource management and institutional and environmental regulations. Specifically, this part of the project will focus on employment and household income effects in the region and the rest of the province.
This study will take advantage of work already completed in Burns Lake by the Canadian Forest Service socio-economic research group at the Northern Forestry Centre and will expand to a selected number of Morice and Lakes communities.
