The objective of this project is to reduce SCQI scores in those watersheds where the water quality concern ratings are high by implementing simple environmental maintenance works such as drainage, erosion and sediment control at designated stream crossings. Water quality concerns ratings were identified for each watershed in TFL#30 using the Stream Crossing Quality Index (SCQI) hazard assessment surveys conducted from 2002 to 2004. The SCQI was selected as Indicator #17 in CanFor's Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Sustainable Forest Management Plan for TFL#30 as part of a group of indicators designed the meet the CSA criterion of conservation of soil and water resources. The goal of the current project is to reduce the risk of sediment delivery into streams in watersheds where concerns for water quality are high and thus mitigating environmental hazards.
