The yellow cypress clonal evaluation project continues more than a decade of research into the genetic variation of this species and how it should be managed, conserved, and deployed. Understanding this variation will lead to efficient and effective seed transfer limits. Identification of stable, top-performing clones for regeneration programs increases the value of the forest land base and assists in adjacency concerns. Delivery of volume gains from the program has begun, but greater gains will be realized, both from the increased selection intensity of more clones in more trials, and from increased confidence of older trials. Western Forest Products initiated trials in this species, and now works in conjunction with the Ministry of Forests? Yellow Cypress Breeder to deliver gain to regeneration programs. This report summarizes the data collected at two of our test sites that were scheduled for measurement after the 2005 growing season. These include 12 year measures of phase 5 and 7 year measures of phase 9 trials at Port McNeill. This report also confirms that the data have been forwarded to the Breeder for determination of clonal values. These trials are among those identified in the FGC Business Plan 2004/2005 (Woods 2004).
