Abstract: This FPCI project has been co-funded by Tolko Industries Ltd., Okanagan Regional Woodlands and BC Timber Sales, Okanagan-Columbia Business Area (Tolko and BCTS) under the Forest Investment Account. The study area, which is located in the Okanagan and Shuswap areas of southern BC (see Figure 1) includes: 1) Priority watersheds, established by Tolko Industries Ltd., within TSA 22 and TFL 49; and, 2) Priority BCTS operating areas located within or immediately adjacent to operating areas held by Tolko Industries Ltd. (within TSA 22 and TFL 49). The project is intended to increase accessible fish habitat by identifying and mitigating culvert structures which are full or partial barriers on confirmed fish-streams. As part of the overall process for planning where FPCIs will be completed, fish presence/absence maps were prepared with coverage extending across Tolko Industries Ltd.?s entire operating area within TSA 22 and TFL 49 as well as selected BCTS operating areas in TSA 22 and TFL 49. Details on the fish presence/absence mapping project can be found in Part 1. All culverts assessed in this project were installed prior to June 15, 1995 when fish passage at culvert installations was required under the Forest Practices Code of BC Act, Forest Road Regulation (see Section 3.0). components prepared by Snowy River Resources Ltd., Silvatech Consulting Ltd., Trumbley Environmental Consulting Ltd., and Wildstone Engineering Ltd.
