The project concept is for a 1200 m long fish habitat restoration side channel. The channel will have a base width of 3 - 6 m and a nearly level grade for the 925 m long downstream groundwater segment. The upper 275 m channel segment will have a gradient that climbs at 2% to meet the Conuma Hatchery rearing pond discharge area. The Hatchery flows will be diverted into the channel to provide additional flow and nutrients for salmon and trout in the side channel. The channel edges will be lined with rock to prevent spawning fish from collapsing the banks, and extensive LWD will be installed to increase the biodensity of the channel.
