Abstract: This project is a continuation of work begun in 2006/7 under both P&T and Canfor projects to identify areas of high biodiversity value to retain as old forest retention areas, and corridors to connect these larger leave areas. The landbase of the southern portion of the FSJ District is under increasing pressure as AACs are increased and tenures overlap in order to salvage timber killed by the mountain pine beetle. We are in a critical time period to make planning decisions regarding which areas are to be cut and which areas are to be retained for biodiversity and wildlife at the landscape level.
