Haida Gwaii watersheds have been identified as a priority area for FIA fish passage assessment work. Phase 1 of this project identified 1,005 eligible stream crossings with the BCTS operating area based on 1:20,000 scale TRIM mapping information. Subsequently, a total of 105.8 km of road and 633 culverts locations were inspected in the in the field. Of these 10 sites were found to be eligible for the full FIA fish passage assessment according to the standard MOE protocols. A cost benefit analysis and ranking assessmsnt was done for each of these sites resulting in restoration options being recommended at 4 locations. Basic information was also collected for the remaining 623 sites that will help to inform future assessment work.
