This document is a summary of published information relative to the demonstrated and hypothesized environmental impact of 2, 4-D (2, 4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acid). The Fish and Wildlife Branch remains concerned that large scale or repeated use of the herbicide will detrimentally affect the fish and wildlife resources of British Columbia. Applications of 2, 4-D for aquatic weed control are of particular concern as the potential impact of this chemical on aquatic ecosystems appears to be greater than its impact on terrestrial ones.
