Abstract: Fish and wildlife are protected by provincial, federal and international laws. These laws allow regulated use of fish and wildlife resources and are intended to prevent the malicious or negligent destruction of wild creatures and their habitat. A variety of chemicals have been used to control mosquito populations, however, these insecticides have also proven to be toxic to fish, wildlife and other aquatic insects. This report provides an overview of the methods used to control mosquitoes and the effects they have on fish and wildlife resources, and it presents suggestions for alternative control measures.
