The Keogh River watershed was selected in 1975 by the Research and Technical Services Section of the Fish and Wildlife Branch to conduct an intensive study of the production and habitat improvement techniques for anadromous gamefish, specifically steelhead trout (Salmo gairdneri) and to a lesser extent for cutthroat trout (Salmo clarki clarki) and Dolly Varden char (Salvelinus malma) and coho salmon (Onchorynchus kisutch). The information gained is to be utilized under the Salmonid Enhancement Program for future habitat improvement projects and to improve management of gamefish populations in coastal streams of British Columbia. The Engineering Section was requested by the Research Section to assist in the design and construction of a fish enumeration fence. This fence was to incorporate trapping facilities for both upstream and downstream migrating adults and downstream migrating smolts. It is anticipated that the Keogh River project will operate for a minimum of 5 years and could be extended to 10 years. A
