The current study was designed to measure the relative survival and growth of rainbow trout fry, fall fingerlings, and yearlings stocked in lakes in the Kamloops-Okanagan region of British Columbia at rates specified by an improved stocking formula. In addition, the effects of inter- and intra-specific competition were examined by stocking four different categories of lakes: (1) barren (no fish present), closed to angling: (2) previous stockings of trout closed to angling, (3) previous stockings of trout open to angling, (4) previous stockings of trout, closed to angling, coarse fish present.
