The objectives of this study were to examine juvenile steelhead density in relation to substrate conditions, to determine the relationship between the frequency of boulders and juvenile steelhead abundance, to define hydraulic configurations and substrate sizes associated with high densities of parr, and assess the potential manipulation and addition of substrates as a means of improving steelhead rearing habitat.
