Hill Creek is a small Dolly Varden char (Salvelinus malma) and rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri Richardson) stream entering Upper Arrow Lake near Galena Bay (Figure 1). The stream also contains the slimy sculpin, Cottus Cognatus Richardson. The watershed is about 30 km2 containing no lakes and is partly logged. It is in an area of moderate rainfall (100-150 cm. per annum) with runoff patterns, forest associations (Interior Western Hemlock) and thin, gravelly soils that are fairly typical of the West Kootenay region.
