In early 1981, several sidechannel areas within the Vedder River Management Area were identified as perhaps offering opportunities to enhance salmonid production in the system. During the 1981 field season, the Fish Habitat Improvement Section undertook an investigation of some of these areas with respect to:
1) present salmonid utilization
2) habitat quality
3) factors limiting production
4) enhancement opportunities
