SUPERCEDED by the 2006 Wildlife Guidelines for Backcountry Tourism/Commercial Recreation. Potential impacts on wildlife can be avoided or mitigated through
careful site assessment, planning and management of Commercial
Recreation operations.
This guide is to assist Applicants to Land and Water BC (LWBC, formerly
BCAL) for Commercial Recreation (CR) tenure over Crown land, in
preparing an Application that addresses potential impacts of CR operations
on sensitive wildlife resources. It presents steps to preparing a complete
application that meets wildlife objectives through the use of recommended
guidelines to prevent or mitigate the potentially adverse effects of CR
activities on wildlife and wildlife habitats in the backcountry. By assisting
preparation of complete applications, the guide will also enable the Ministry
of Water, Land and Air Protection (WLAP) and LWBC to provide more
streamlined, consistent and timely responses to applicants for CR tenure.
