This report identifies work completed for the Kechika wolf/ungulate management program for the 1984-85 biological year. Wolf and ungulate population responses to wolf removal are documented; 157 wolves, or 65% of the 1985 prereduction estimate, were removed from the reduction area. Moose in the reduction area have responded to lower wolf numbers with 12 times as many calves per 100 cows as moose in the untreated wolf area. Indeed, if moose calf proportions were examined for the Kechika, 90% of the variation was statistically explicable by the number of wolves present.
