The Squamish River Estuary Management Study was initiated in May of 1979, by the Federal and Provincial Governments to develop a management plan for the lower Squamish River and estuary.
The study encompassed land use, recreation, habitat for fish and wildlife, and air and water quality. Four technical work groups, directed by a Federal-Provincial Planning Committee, were organized to prepare both interim and final reports on each of the subjects.
