In October and November 1998 the Ministry of Environment conducted an assessment of potential marbled murrelet nesting habitat in the Corrigan Watershed Planning Area (equivalent to the draft Corrigan Landscape Unit). Forest cover map sheets were consulted, air photos were interpretted and potential nesting areas were delineated. The enclosed map sheets indicate the areas of interest. Initially ten large areas were identified through air photos and forest cover maps as potential nesting areas. Field data on tree diameters and potential nesting platform densities were collected on the ground from seven plots in six of these areas and four areas were observed from the air by helicopter. The results from these surveys are summarized in this report.
