The purpose of this study was to determine the steelhead fry carrying capacity and stocking potential of reach 1 of Big Silver Creek. Habitat analysis and a water chemistry-based steelhead production model were used to predict a carrying capacity of 20,174 steelhead fry. Electrofishing data suggested that wild steelhead fry were utilizing less than 2% of the available usable fry habitat in 1991. It was recommended that 10,000 steelhead fry should be stocked in reach one of Big Silver Creek. It was further recommended that stocking densities be assessed in the year following stocking.
