At the third meeting with the executive body for the convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air Pollution in July 1985 it was decided initiate work on the control of emissions of nitrogen oxides. A working group on nitrogen oxides was established. At the first session of this group it was decided that a status report should be prepared. The was divided into different parts, emissions, ambient air data, atmospheric chemistry and deposition etc. The Nordic countries offered to contribute to this report by preparing a status report on atmospheric chemistry, transport and deposition of nitrogen oxides. this report is the result of the work. The work was founded by the Nordic Council of Ministers.
