Abstract: The Air Resources Branch (ARB) of the Ministry of Environment, Lands and Parks (MELP) maintains an inventory of common contaminants released into the atmosphere from all sources across the province. With assistance from Environment Canada (EC), MELP has undertaken to build a demonstration geo-spatial model of the Air Contaminant Emissions (ACE) across the province using their Geographic Information System (GIS) Oracle Accessing Tool (GOAT). This report is an assessment of the initial efforts to geo-spatially allocate the 1995 British Columbia Emissions Inventory of Contaminants and Greenhouse Gases. The focus of this report is to document the data sets and outline the modeling framework used for this project. Initially, the emissions data set from each source was analyzed for validity by studying the methodology used for calculating the totals. The next step was to research the spatial data sets that could be used to allocate the emissions spatially. An appropriate modeling formula and weighting factor were t
