On behalf of the Coordinating Committee of the Canada - B.C. Water Quality Monitoring Agreement, I would like to welcome you to the third annual Quality Assurance Workshop. The Coordinators of the Agreement are Paul Whitfield, Bruno Tassone, and Paul Kluckner/Henry Quon for Environment Canada, and Malcolm Clark, Lloyd Erickson, and I for BC Environment.
The Agreement was signed nine years ago in 1985 to coordinate and integrate the water quality monitoring of Environment Canada and BC Environment, to avoid duplication of monitoring, to share costs, to collect scientifically sound and compatible/comparable data, and to produce joint assessments of water quality. The focus has been on long-term (5-10+ years) trend monitoring, and the initial trend assessments of these data are starting to come out.
