This guide is designed to assist readers in interpreting and using classification maps produced by the B.C. Ministry of Water, Land and Air Protection. The maps are products of the BC Aquifer Classification system developed in 1994 to support groundwater management and assessment. This guide explains the aquifer classification system and discusses the assumptions underlying its design, the interpretation of the information presented and the appropriate use of the accompanying maps.
