Paleolimnological Analysis of Bednesti Lake, B.C.: Final Report Cumming, Dr. Brian

Abstract: Most parks and gardens on southern Vancouver Island and in the lower Fraser Valley include creeks and ponds which often feature aquatic plants. Aquatic weeds, such as milfoil, could cause substantial problems in these ponds. Many of the park and garden ponds have previously been visited as part of the Ministry of Environment milfoil surveys, but they have never been systematically surveyed and compared in one season and in one report. The surveys reported here took place in the autumn of 1982, and the results are compared with previous data. Some changes have occurred, and Eurasian water milfoil and some native nuisance species have been quick to exploit these new habitats.
