Wood Lake has been identified in a number of previous studies as having poor water quality relative to the other lakes of the Okanagan Valley. This poor water quality prevents the water-based recreation potential from being achieved and affects the sport fishery potential. The water quality of the south end of Kalamalka Lake has also been affected by the inflow of high concentrations of nutrients from Wood Lake.
