The Biological Integrity of Okanagan Streams: Using Benthic Invertebrates to Monitor Stream Health Ministry of Environment

Abstract: This is a 12-page brochure which describes the use of benthic invertebrates to rank the health of 31 stream sites in the Okanagan Basin; 68% of these sites are in fair, poor or very poor condition. The lowest scores are likely associated with the cumulative stresses from riparian vegetation loss, channelization, stormwater inputs and degraded water or sediment quality.
