This report was prepared under contract for the Canada/British Columbia Oceans Coordinating Committee (OCC). To date, the rising interest in the ocean and its economic role has not been matched by supporting information and analysis. The oceans sector is not well-represented by conventional statistics. This study is a first step in filling the data gaps to help all levels of government, First Nations, key stakeholders, and the public at large to better comprehend the ocean's economic significance.
