The Ministry of Environment (MoE) and Environment Canada conducted a joint investigation of Duck Lake near Creston BC in the summer of 2003 through the Pesticide Science Fund Project. The main objective of this study was to conduct a preliminary investigation of the environmental
health of Duck Lake through a one time sampling effort, screening for contaminants that may be
present in sediment and water based on land use. Masse & Miller Consulting Ltd. and Morrow Environmental Consultants Inc. were retained by the Kootenay Region Environmental Quality
Section of MoE to provide a summary and interpretation of the sediment data collected by MoE and Environment Canada in Duck Lake presented in this report. Pesticide analysis for surface water in Duck Lake was conducted separately by Environment Canada through the Pesticides
Science Fund.
