The material contained in this report is the result of interviews with many individuals involved in recycling activity in British Columbia, a review of federal and provincial legislation and research of current economic literature in this area.
Section 1 deals with the markets in which recycled and virgin materials are in competition with one another within the categories of metals, glass, and paper in British Columbia.
Section 2 examines the recycled goods markets in general.
Section 3 contains examples of recycled good flows from their initial use to their reuse as recycled material.
Section 4 examines the markets within the recyclable categories of paper, metal, and glass, and also provides price information for recyclables along with factors affecting those prices.
The markets discussed in this document are those which have shown themselves to be economically viable at some time in the past.
