The data and graphic representations in this document are based on the information provided by British Columbia municipalities to KPA Engineering Ltd. while under contract to BC Environment who prepared the information and entered it into the Municipal Solid Waste Tracking System data base. These data represent the second year of data collection. The 1991 data analysis measured the quantities if waste generated in British Columbia during that year in terms of Waste-In including 'residential', 'institutional, commercial, industrial' and 'demolition, construction, land-clearing' on a province wide and regional district by regional district basis. The analysis also includes the disposition of the 'Waste-Out' either to 'residual management' or to 'recycling'. Each regional district summary comprises a graphic representation of the regional district's 1991 results compared to its 1990 and the provincial 1990, 1991 results. The detailed data analysis for each regional district is found on the reverse side of each graph. As anticipated, there were significant changes noted in the waste reduction patterns from region to region resulting from the addition of new waste reduction initiatives such as the "Lead Acid Battery" and the "rubber Tire" collection programs, and the diversion of significant quantities of DLC wastes in the GVRD.
