This Report represents the results of the public inquiry carried out by the Director of the Pollution Control Branch from April 30 to May 4. 1973. The inquiry was held to resolve what technical considerations and measures would be required for Municipal Type Waste Discharges in British Columbia to meet the requirements of the Pollution Control Act. 1967. The "considerations and measures" have been stated as "objectives" in the Report and it is intended to use these as minimum objectives in issuing orders to those persons discharging Municipal Type Wastes. These objectives have been formulated on the basis of ecological, health, technological, and economic considerations from information available to the advisory panel as well as from the information presented at the inquiry. With respect to the objectives of the Report which necessarily emphasize the technical aspects and measures of controlling discharges to water, land, and air, the proposed development of such was indicated to all participants and panel members in the Notice of Inquiry dated May 17, 1972, and in the opening remarks available in the transcript of the proceedings. This public inquiry and Report is the fifth of a series of such inquiries and reports planned to formulate minimum objectives for the control and management of waste discharges in British Columbia.
