The purpose of this report is to present the results of the Municipal Solid Waste Management Survey. The survey was undertaken in order to determine the current quantities of solid wastes collected, recycled and disposed of by incorporated municipalities and regional districts in British Columbia during 1986. In addition the costs and labour requirements associated with solid waste management were collected as was information on the source and composition of the solid wastes. The survey results will be used to assess current provincial solid waste management policies and to develop future policy options. The information collected may also be of use to municipal engineers and planners in formulating their own waste management plans.
