Abstract |
The Marbled Murrelet is a small and unique seabird, distributed along the Pacific coast from the Aleutian Islands in Alaska, to Santa Cruz, California. It dives for small fish in the near shore area, mostly within a couple kilometers from the coast. Unlike other sea-birds, Marbled Murrelets do not usually nest on the ground in dense colonies. Their nesting habitat is far beyond the coastal fringe on the mossy limbs of old-growth trees. | ||||||
