Abstract
This study?s objective was to prepare an inventory of methane emissions and sources from natural and anthropogenic sources in BC for the years 1990 and 2005. Methane reduction opportunities as well as control measures associated with the most suitable options for the major anthropogenic sources of methane emitters in BC were also studied and discussed. The inventory was organized into nine anthropogenic and four natural methane source categories. The anthropogenic categories are landfills, manure, natural gas industry, domestic animals, prescribed fires, oil industry, mobile combustion sources, incineration and stationary combustion sources. The natural sources are wetlands, wildfires, wildlife, lakes and rivers.
