Abstract
Weyerhaeuser identified a high elevation lodgepole pine seed needs gap for their southern interior operations. The current demand for these seedlings is 1.4 million seedlings/year, which represents a large seedling component for which there is no superior progeny seed source. Forsite was contracted by Weyerhaeuser to: 1. identify superior lodgepole pine seed sources to meet this demand; 2. coordinate all project activities involving cone collections, cone transport and storage, seed extraction, identification and lay-out of trial sites and reporting; and 3. coordinate project activities involving planting and mapping of trial sites. Report prepared for West Fraser Mills Ltd. West Fraser Mills Ltd., Williams Lake Division (West Fraser) has identified a B+ and A Class lodgepole pine (Pli) seed needs gap for the Chilcotin Plateau. Forsite Consultants Ltd. (Forsite) was contracted by West Fraser to: 1. Identify superior lodgepole pine seed sources, 2. Coordinate all year 1 project activities involving cone collections, cone transport and storage, cone grading and separation, seed extraction and reporting, 3. Coordinate all year 2 project activities involving trial site location and layout. 4. Coordinate year 3 project activities involving planting and mapping of trial sites. Prepared by Forsite.
