Title
Foraging habitat selection, prey abundance, and reproductive success of northern goshawks in Northwest British Columbia
Author
Mahon, Todd
Date
2003
Abstract
Current knowledge gaps in goshawk foraging area requirements impede confident development of policy to manage for the species, and to incorporate effective guidelines into strategic and operational planning processes. This project will take advantage of a large sample size of >70 known goshawk territories, to initiate research on foraging area requirements of goshawks. The results from this work will provide local, empirical data to ongoing policy development (Identified Wildlife Management Strategy) and strategic planning process (LRMPs), to maintain healthy goshawk populations. If multiple years of data are collected the information will make a significant contribution to the general knowledge of goshawks and landscape ecology. Todd Mahon, MSc. and Frank Doyle, MSc..
